MARK L VAN, RN, CEN, CFRN, MICN/MICP* RRTRN, LNC**
Mark Van has been involved with Emergency Medicine and Emergency Services since high school when he joined his local Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad as a volunteer Firefighter & Emergency Medical Technician. He taught CPR to his peers and to the public through community outreach programs.
Mark received a PBA scholarship for academic and athletic excellence and attended Union College Paramedic Program becoming the youngest professional paramedic certified in the state. He became a professional medical educator teaching American Heart Association CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation to physicians, nurses, paramedics, various healthcare, and emergency services personnel.
He graduated Thomas Edison University majoring in Criminal Justice and went on to become a U.S. Marine trained Law Enforcement officer graduating top of his class. Mark served as a police officer and police academy instructor until her suffered a career ending injury. He has worked with local police departments, the FBI, U.S. Air Marshals Service, and the United States Secret Service helping guard 3 past U.S. Presidents.
Mark graduated from Bergen Community College School of Nursing and completed externships and specialized training programs at University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, Harvard, Duke, John’s Hopkins, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Mark is a Board Certified Emergency Nurse and Flight Nurse. Mark is a certified Rapid Response Team Nurse and holds numerous Emergency Medical Services certifications.
Mark has extensive hospital experience in Emergency, Shock / Trauma Level-1, Mobile Intensive Care Unit, Medevac Flight Team, Specialty Care Transport Unit, Rapid Response Team, Intensive Care Units, Cardiac Catheterization, IV Team, Operating Room, Recovery Room, and Pheresis.
Mark spent many years serving as Director of Nursing and Nurse Administrator for various ambulatory surgical centers. He functioned as a clinical consultant and troubleshooter for a national management company specializing in Life Safety and staff education. Mark has developed and opened several surgical centers and ambulatory facilities from inception to licensure and operations. Mark serves as an adjunct critical care nursing instructor several times yearly for local private and community college nursing programs.
Mark responded to both attacks on the World Trade Center, the Miracle on the Hudson Airplane Crash, the Hackensack Ford Fire, the Super Crane Collapse, and numerous active shooter incidents. Mark currently serves as Chief Flight Nurse and Air Medical Base Administrator for Peak Medevac International performing Medevac and Shock Trauma Air Rescue missions for critically ill and injured patients all over the globe.
Mark completed the Duke University Legal Nurse Consulting Program and looks forward to aiding attorneys in helping their clients with their medical malpractice, personal injury, and forensic cases.
